Programs
At Summit, we provide every student "A. V.I.P." service.
Academics - Virtues - Individual Attention - Parental Involvement
SUMMER OLYMPICS PROGRAM
The summer program is a full-time, seven-week program for students in the 4th – 8th grades. 33 college students along with 50 Summit high school students lead teams of grade school students through the structured day of academic classes and sports competitions. 440 students participated in the Summer Olympics Program in 2017.
Each day is very tightly scheduled and consists of ½ day of academic classes in Reading, Math, and Character, and ½ day of organized sports. Complementing the academics and sports each week are field trips, career presentations, and individual advising sessions. In advising sessions, students discuss their future and set short and long-term goals with their counselors.
One-on-One Tutoring and Mentoring Program
Each student is matched with a trained volunteer who serves as the student’s tutor and mentor. Students and tutors build friendship, trust and confidence in an environment where growth in virtues are best developed and nurtured.
Students and volunteers meet at Summit once each week to study for an hour, participate in a character talk and set personal goals for 10 minutes, and play sports for 45 minutes. In 2017, 190 students and 185 volunteers participated in the program, and students' grade level equivalence scores improved more than the national average.
Summit also holds parent seminars several times each semester to help parents to better perform their responsibilities as the primary educators of their children.
High School College Bound Program
The College Bound Program provides an opportunity for high school students that have come up through Summit’s programs to continue their academic and character growth in the Summit family.
They meet each Saturday for study, character talks, practice ACT tests, individual advising and goal-setting, career presentations from professionals in a variety of occupations, visits to college campuses, and sports and recreation with their close friends.
During the summer, College Bound students work as Junior Counselors and assist the Counselors to lead teams of grade school students. By serving as peer leaders and role models to the younger students, their participation is crucial to the success of the program.
Parent Program
Summit's Parenting Program aims to connect with parents through seminars, family gatherings, and meetings with their child's mentors, thus giving them the tools to help manage their child's growth and best prepare them for the future.
