'Tis the Season for Giving

Whitefish Bay Girls Dedicate Holiday Fundraising Project to Summit Read-A-Thon

Though Thanksgiving and Christmas are still weeks away, that hasn't stopped the "Whitefish Bay Charity Chicks" from getting into the "giving spirit" of the season. These middle school girls have kicked off their annual holiday fundraiser, and chose Summit as the recipient for their efforts! Ella, Gwyne, Fiona, Gretchen and Heather are putting together "candy cottage" decorating kits that include 2 or 3 houses, a foam base, icing and plenty of candy. According to the Charity Chicks, these make great gifts for friends and family!

The girls are accepting orders now through November 30 and will deliver the kits December 7th and 8th. All of their proceeds will go towards supporting Summit's Summer READ-A-THON program!

Why Summit?

Ella, Gwyne, Fiona, Gretchen and Heather know how important Reading is in their own lives, and how developing good reading skills now will positively affect their future. That's why they wanted to help kids in their community develop strong reading skills. Additionally, some of the girls have watched their older siblings volunteer their time as tutors for the Summit One-On-One Program, so they know what a big impact the program has on both inner-city students and the tutors that work with them.
